Frequently Asked Questions

What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy (OT) is a profession which can work with individuals across the lifespan addressing their goals in achieving their preferred activities, known as occupations. It can include daily self care, household tasks, health management, rest and sleep, education, work, play and leisure or social participation.

What do you need to get started?

For traditional OT services (OT, home assessment, etc.) we will need a signed referral from a physician for "OT to Evaluate and Treat."  If you provide a physicians contact information I can coordinate with them for the referral, please understand this can take various lengths of time to complete based on the office. We will use your basic demographic and contact information to create a patient account and allow you to securely upload private information in the portal such as insurance cards with a HIPAA compliant platform.  An order is not required for craniosacral fascial therapy in all cases, please reach out as needed for more information.

What to expect with a home modification assessment?

It will last approximately 45-75 minutes depending on the extent of your needs and the size of the home. It will start with a conversational interview and assessment and then a client led tour of the home to observe concerns within the home. It will include a written report and follow up. During the course of the assessment pictures may be taken of some areas of the home to help with creating a report and recommendations.

What to expect with the LSVT Big program?

The program was originally created for those with Parkinson's. It is an intensive program, including daily exercises and activities to be performed twice a day. As your occupational therapist, you will be scheduled 4x week for 4 weeks for a total of 16 sessions together. Each OT session will count as one of the daily exercise rounds. It is a very exhausting program and requires dedication and consistency for optimal results.

What is craniosacral fascial therapy (CFT)?

Please refer to my CFT page for more information and a direct link to the Gillespie website for more information and testimonials on the modality.

What to expect with a CFT session?

The session will be conducted fully clothed on a massage table. There may be times you are lying on your back, sitting on the edge or lying on your side. It is a gentle modality but your body may "unwind" as tension is released and move so it is recommended to wear comfortable, loose clothes you might wear when stretching or working out.

What to expect with a holistic living consultation?

We will discuss your current concerns and review an outline of areas to start and begin assessing household products and foods to help lower the toxic load placed on your body to optimize your health and function.
