Craniosacral Fascial Therapy
History
CFT was founded by Dr. Barry Gillespie in the 1970's. It was a combination of cranial osteopathy, myofascial release and dental release techniques. CFT was founded on the idea of the craniosacral system and fascial system working as one connected system instead of two separate systems. It blends the modalities of cranial sacral therapy and myofascial release in combination with dental techniques. It is a gentle modality which produces therapeutic benefits without the risk of side effects.
Craniosacral System
The craniosacral system experiences subtle motion in response to an inherent motion of expansion and contraction of the brain. A decrease in the motion can indicate decreased function within the body resulting in pain and/or dysfunction.
Fascia
Fascia is the web of connective tissue surrounding all structures in the body and brain. Fascia thickens in response to injury and trauma creating areas of strain. Unreleased fascial strain can cause distortions in structure as well as nerve and circulatory dysfunction. Fascial strain within the craniosacral fascial system decreases the volume and quality of craniosacral motion.
What to expect?
Each session is essentially peeling back a layer of the onion on your fascial strain, it can take multiple sessions to find relief and sometimes people will experience a little bit of a detox after each session as the strain is released. Depending on the individual some people notice changes right away, some people it takes a few days and others it may take a few sessions. Most people will benefit from 3-5 sessions for optimal benefits.
What is the investment?
Initial appointments are more expensive and include up to a 30 minute consultation call to discuss health history and answer any questions about CFT in addition to a 60 minute appointment. Follow up session pricing is slightly reduced for 60 minutes. All appointments account for 5 minutes to discuss briefly how things are going both before and after the session. All CFT sessions are conducted inside Wellness Worx in Flowery Branch, GA. For those within a 15 minute driving radius (from Wellness Worx) in-home sessions are subject to schedule availability. Clients are able to self schedule whether a new or returning client via the online scheduler and can choose to have a 60, 90 or 120 minute session, with all factoring in a 5 minute buffer for checking in before and after the session.
Depending on the current number of clients being served when a new client inquires to schedule an appointment, it can take anywhere from 1-5 weeks to be seen initially but most people can be seen within 10 business days from time of inquiry. The online scheduling system only offers booking up to 3 weeks in advance at this time.
Discounts offered for multiple family members receiving services at the same time and for booking multiple sessions up front. Inquire for more information.
I also offer mini-intensives (2 sessions/2 hours in one day) and full intensives (4-6 sessions over 2-3 days) to support optimal release and unwinding. Please book these by connecting with Courtney directly versus through the online scheduler. Thank you!
